African Game Hunts #1 and #2

Hunt # 1

This plains game hunt takes place in Namibia.  Accommodations are in comfortable cottages each with private guestroom and bath.  Hunting will be done on the main ranch, which consists of over 50,000 acres (78 square miles).  The ranch is located approximately 185 miles northwest of Windhoek.  This is an easy drive on improved roads.  Hearty meals are served family-style and often consist of outdoor braai (barbecue) including fabulous South American wines.  There are over 35 species of game animals in Namibia, many of which are found only on this ranch.  The kudu, gemsbok, eland, red hartebeest and springbok are among the best in all of Africa (See photo gallery).  The ranch is operated with a careful focus on proper game management and as such, the capacity is limited to no more than 20 hunters per year.  All travel is done in comfortable 4-wheel drive vehicles while actual hunting is done on foot or on stands.  Permanent blinds have been established adjacent to waterholes, providing close and exciting exposure to many of the animals and wildlife.  Those wishing to view and photograph the wildlife will find many other species including black rhino, elephant and nearly 200 varieties of birds. A .30 caliber magnum rifle with proper scope is the ideal all around rifle for Namibia.

The minimum safari consists of 7 days, however I recommend at least 10 days or more in order to properly hunt all the game available. Season dates run from March 1 through November 30. The rates are as follows.

Hunt # 2

This Namibian Game and cattle farm is located in an unequaled beautiful and scenic landscape. Accommodations for this ranch include 4 Double rooms with showers and 1 Single room with shower which are comfortably furnished, adjacent to the main building. The farm is a family business already in its fourth generation (since 1908). The property is situated half way between the Etosha National Park and Swakopmund at the Atlantic coast, 1600m (5248 ft) above sea-level. The hunting property contains hilly thorn bush savanna with granite hillocks and dry river beds. There are plenty of water holes located throughout the property. Hunting season is February 1st until November 30th. The hunting area is approximately 13,000 ha or 32,000 acres. There are at least 23 huntable species on this property (See Hunt 2 photo gallery).
